Toy Cowboy was a special group for sure. It's hard to place a genre on them (which is typically high praise) but I would call it art punk. They were a band that displayed intelligent song structure & lyricism, with a captivating live performance that made first time viewers immediate fans. They had a touch of high brow art, while still being the best set you'd see at a basement show. That's some southern Illinois sh*t if I've ever seen it. These Carbondale "high stress space cadets" released two wonderful albums. Get them both in this collection.
